HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!!

Today’s post is dedicated to ALL of the wonderful, hardworking, and amazing mothers, mothers-in-law, and mothers-to-be out there.
Thought I don’t speak from my own personal experience, I know from watching my mother and sister that motherhood is a full time job, 24x7, for LIFE. It doesn’t stop when your child turns 18.
Being a mom takes patience (something I don’t have much of!), compassion, self-control, creativity, endless love, forgiveness, ENERGY, and so much more. I applaud every mother out there. You are doing/have done an amazing job and deserve this day to be recognized!!!
And now I would like to say a few things about the “Mothers” in my life :)
To my own wonderful Mommy, Marla Griesedieck:

A blog post doesn’t even begin to show my appreciation for all that you have done/still do for me. I will “need my mommy” until I’m old and gray. You are irreplaceable in every sense of the word. God broke the mold when he made you.
In addition to thanking you for raising me and putting up with all of my nonsense, I wanted to thank you for a few life lessons/anecdotal items that have been and still are so so important me, but I often don’t think of right away…
A few of the “Little Things” Mom taught me
- Always trust your gut
- “This too shall pass”
- The truth shall set you free
- Manners can be fun
- Never end a sentence in a preposition
- Don’t scrape your fork on your teeth
- Knowing when to use “James and ME” vs. “James and I” (and NEVER “Me and James”!)
- Always always write a thank you note
- Be yourself
- Put yourself in someone else’s shoes
- Think before you speak
- Less is more
- Always make your bed
- The importance of a clean house (still working on that one…) ;)
- How to appreciate a full moon
- How to make the BEST fried chicken in the world
- How to let my creativity flow
- How to see the potential in something ugly or dated
- How to fold towels the correct way so that they look pretty when stacked
- My favorite: “When MOM is happy, EVERYONE is happy” :) (Very true)
I could go on and on… but the fact of the matter is that you shaped me in every way and form into the woman I am today, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you Mommy. I love you more.
To My Mother-In-Law, Janet Simonson

Jannie, what a lucky gal I am to have you as a mother-in-law! You are such a great mom to James and all of your kids, and I love how you accepted me as your daughter-in-law right away. I love how creative you are and how you are always willing to help out with special projects or activities (especially with our new house!) :) I love my curtains!
I love that you are right down the street and are easily around for dinners, chats, DIY activities, and are always willing to help out with anything we need. You are so thoughtful and so giving I am so lucky to have another “mom” so close.
Having a mother-in-law like you is such a blessing. I’m so happy to be a part of your family. Thank you for being so good to me. :) Love you.
To My Baby Sister, Marla Griesedieck:

Marla, I have told you many a time, but I can’t tell you enough how proud I am of you for being such a good mommy to these two PERFECT little guys:

I love watching you interact with Jackson - you two remind me of “gal pals” the way you chat/gossip with one another…sometimes I forget you are talking to a 3 and a half year-old! It cracks me up. He adores you and I can’t believe it’s already been 4 years (almost) since that sweet little guy changed our lives forever and for the better.
And Baby Baker…what a little lover. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baby so enamored by its mother. His eyes light up when he sees you and that toothless grin melts my heart. Even the fact that I “kind of look like Mom” doesn’t fool that little man. :)
I have the joy of being an auntie to these little guys and feel so lucky that I get to see them and babysit as much as I do. I love your sons like they are my own and I love you more everyday for being the wonderful mom and sister that you are.
To My Big Sister Carrie Guy:

Could You have created a more adorable and perfect little girl???

I think not :)
You are such a great Mommy to Ansley. I wish I lived closer to you guys so I could hang out with that sassy little diva everyday! I love that she is literally a “mini-me” version of you!
Every day Ansley looks more and more like you and is growing up into such a beautiful little girl. You have done such a great job as a mommy to Ansley, and if she continues to follow in her “mini-Carrie” path, I know that she will have the same hilarious sense of humor, unbelievable talent and creativity, and genuine good heart that you currently posses.
I love you and miss you and cannot wait to see you when you come visit. Enjoy your Mother’s day- you deserve it!
To My Sister-In-Law, Mary Heffernan:

Three little gals under the age of 5 and one on the way! How do you do it? I can’t believe it will be 5 years in September since Francie was born. Even though I wasn’t “officially” Auntie Em back then, I still thought of Francie as my first niece and was beyond thrilled with her arrival. Since then, you and Brian have blessed James and Me with two more beautiful nieces and we are so excited to meet BabyHeff #4 in September!
Your girls are so smart, beautiful, loving, and well-behaved. They crack me up with the things they say every time I see them. I have loved watching them grow up and being a part of their lives and I can’t wait to see how big the growing Heff clan will get!
You have done a great job with your three beautiful girls, Mare. Happy Mother’s Day. :)
To all of the rest of the Mothers out there- HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!
XO,
Em
